We had a GREAT program last night on the Home Sweet Home ministries by Mary Ann Pullin. She offered a list of ways that we could help out, and I think we were all very inspired! We might want to think about scheduling a visit- maybe planning a service-project day this summer? Please view their website at www.hshministries.org for more information. I have posted the "Perfect Day" video that she mentioned further down the page, just remember to turn off the blog's music first.
More business...
We decided to put our offering of the evening towards the purchase of the "Fireproof" movie that we will view at our February meeting and then donate to our church's library. We will be meeting in the youth's movie room upstairs at the church. You are still welcome to donate, we have a total $12 currently.
For our March meeting, do we have any takers for hostess? We are waiting to hear back from Cunningham Childrens Home about whether or not we can schedule a speaker. We will also be assembling Easter baskets. We'll discuss the items in more detail at the February meeting. (think baskets, candy/snacks, Spring games, art supplies, bubbles, hats, etc.)
April 4th-5th is the Cunningham Festival of Quilts... can I get a volunteer to put together our roadtrip? Decide on a date, transportation, times, and a lunch or dinner place in Champaign-Urbana.
Mary Walker discussed the "All Women Read" UMW Unit program coming up on April 22nd. It's a "book club" type meeting, so if interested, the two books are "The Last Lecture" and "Sharing Food."
Mary also mentioned that she and Jody Poultney have discussed putting together a Chrisamon tree, and that she will give us the tree and ornament-making supplies for us to put together in time for the BabyFold's Festival of Trees 2009.
We are looking to finalize a date to provide a meal for Wesley Foundation.
